Interest Rates 1952-2023 | PF Accumulation History
The EPF Scheme 1952 includes provisions for interest. The Central Government, in consultation with the Central Board, determines the rate of interest that will be credited to each member’s account by the Commissioner. Interest is added based on monthly running balances from the last day of each year. This includes interest on the amount at the credit of a member on the last day of the preceding year, any sums withdrawn during the current year, and all sums credited to the member’s account after the last day of the preceding year.
Interest is rounded to the nearest whole rupee with fifty paise counting as the next higher rupee. In cases of a claim for refund under paragraph 69 or 70, interest is payable up until the end of the month preceding the final payment authorization date, regardless of the claim received date. The rate of interest for claims for refund for the broken currency period will be the last declared rate on Employees’ Provident Fund, and if it is less than the previous year’s declared rate, it will still be used for the current year.
