7th CPC Pay Scale Structure for Level 15

Level 15 marks the beginning of India’s most influential official ranks. According to the 7th CPC Pay Matrix Table, the minimum basic salary for pay matrix level 12 is Rs. 1,82,200. The Indian Government endows IAS officers in higher ranks with an array of benefits that ensure a comfortable lifestyle. These include a bungalow with staff to take care of daily chores, security services, a car with a driver, and a hotline for communication. In addition, IAS officers and their family members receive top-priority medical care in both private and Government hospitals.

7th CPC Pay Matrix Pay Level 15

Level 15 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix corresponds to the HAG (Higher Administrative Grade) Scale of Pay Matrix. This particular pay level consists of 8 stages as recommended by the 7th Pay Commission. The pay structure for Level 15 ranges from a minimum of Rs. 1,82,200 to a maximum of Rs. 2,24,100, as per the prescribed index of 8 stages.

[As per the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission on Transport Allowance, the Officers in Pay Matrix Level 14 and higher, who are entitled to the use of official car, will have the option to avail themselves of the existing facility or to draw the TPTA at the rate of Rs. 15,750 + DA per month]

HAG Scale Hierarchy in Central Govt Services

Within the ministries and departments of the central government services, there exists a hierarchical structure known as the HAG scale. This scale comprises ten officer grades, namely: Higher Administrative Grade-I, Higher Administrative Grade-II, Senior Administrative Grade, Senior Administrative Grade (Adhoc), Non-Functional Selection Grade, Junior Administrative Grade, Junior Administrative Grade (Adhoc), Senior Administrative Scale, Senior Administrative Scale (Adhoc), and Junior Time Scale.

IAS and IPS Salary Package after 7th CPC

The remuneration package for IAS and IPS officers has been revised following the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission. The Commissioner of Police receives the highest monthly salary of approximately 2,25,000 INR, while other IPS officers can expect a gross salary of Rs 79,662 per month. This figure includes a basic pay of Rs 56,100 and an in-hand salary of Rs 67,696 after deductions such as Central Government contributions, Health Services contributions, NPS contributions, Insurance Tax and Insurance Scheme have been taken into account.

IAS officers are entitled to different salary packages depending on their position, with a basic salary of INR 56,100 per month. However, allowances like TA, DA, and HRA can increase this amount to INR 2,50,000 for a Cabinet Secretary.

While IAS officers are trained at LBSNAA in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, IPS officers undergo training at SVPNPA in Hyderabad, Telangana.

In terms of salary comparison between IAS and IPS, the basic salary for an IAS officer is Rs. 56,100 (HRA and TA are Extra), while the salary range of an IPS officer falls between 56,100 INR – 2,25,000 INR per month.
