When will the DA Announcement be made?
Why the Delay?
Will it be cleared at this cabinet meeting? Questions…questions…and more…!
We are being bombarded by these questions from our readers, but, unfortunately, we don’t have answers to them. Despite the uncertainty, we firmly believe that “the confirmation will come during the cabinet meeting this week…”
Central Government employees are being given two additional Dearness Allowance increases each year, as per the recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission report. No official announcement has been made yet about the 6% DA increase that is due since January this year.
The same government had, much to everybody’s pleasant surprise, announced 2014 July’s DA as early as September 4, last year. But this time, the month of March has come and gone, but there are still no signs of confirmation.
Normally, the DA arrears are for January and February are paid along with March’s salaries.
Many central government employees Federations, including BPMS, are constantly sending reminders and maintaining pressure on the Government to announce the DA.
Similar delay was seen in January 2013 during the UPA Government. All the trade unions, including the Confederation, wrote letters to the Government, expressing their dissatisfaction. They warned the Government to immediately make the announcements and bring relief to nearly 50 lakh current and former central government employees. The then government immediately complied with their request.
All the federations and employees are hoping that a re-run of similar scenario will not happen this time.
