Ad-hoc Assistant Section Officers: Apply Today
Assistant Section Officers: ASOs have the important task of recording, composing, and deciphering guidelines and statutes, guaranteeing coherence and continuity in the governmental policies of India. They serve as a pivotal connection between the Parliament and the Central Secretariat, playing an integral role in maintaining this vital link.
Among the 5414 Assistant Section Officers (ASOs) currently employed in the Government of India, a total of 982 individuals are serving on an ad-hoc basis as Assistant Section Officers (ASOs). The attached document provides a breakdown of these numbers by ministry.
The process of regularizing the position of Assistant Section Officer (ASO) has been delayed due to ongoing legal disputes since 2012. However, on 07.02.2023 and 03.03.2023, the Hon’ble High Court and Hon’ble Supreme Court respectively issued final judgments on these cases.
The cases of the 982 ASOs currently working on an ad-hoc basis are now being reviewed for regularization. This will be done through the conduct of Assistant Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) as well as through consideration of seniority, based on vacancies and eligibility. The dates for the LDCE have already been announced and are scheduled to take place on 3rd September, 24th September, and 14th October 2023.”
