Pan Aadhaar Link Last Date Extended to 30.6.2023
The deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar has been extended to 30th June, 2023, allowing taxpayers to inform the designated authority without any adverse consequences. It is mandatory for individuals who obtained a PAN on or before 1st July, 2017, and are eligible for an Aadhaar number, to declare their Aadhaar before 31st March, 2023, by paying a stipulated fee.
Failure to comply with this rule could result in consequences under the Income-tax Act, 1961 after 1st April, 2023. The deadline for informing the designated authority of Aadhaar for PAN-Aadhaar linkage has been extended to 30th June 2023. Taxpayers who fail to comply with this rule after 1st July, 2023 will have their PANs become inoperative, and consequences will follow during that time period. A notification regarding this change will be issued separately.
The deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended to June 30, 2023. If PANs are not linked, no refunds will be given and no interest will be paid during the inactive period. TDS and TCS will be collected at a higher rate as per the law. After paying a fee of Rs.1,000, individuals can make their PAN operative again by notifying the relevant authority of their Aadhaar information.
Certain individuals are exempt from linking their PAN to Aadhaar, including those in specified states, non-residents, non-citizens of India, and individuals over the age of 80.
