Dearness Allowance (D.A.) is the most important salary element for Government employees in India. The rate of Dearness Allowance is being changed once in six months. The provision of additional installments to Government servants is to compensate for the price hike of essential commodities. The calculation of additional installment of Dearness Allowance is based on the recommendations of the 7th pay commission.

How to calculate DA in salary?
After the introduction of the new AICPIN, the calculation of Dearness Allowance is slightly vary from the old methodology. The new index is converted to the old index (CPI (I-W) 2006=100) and then calculated by the prescribed method by the pay commission. We have created a simple online tool for finding the current rate of DA and the amount as per the pay matrix level and basic salary.
