New Email System for Central Govt Employees soon
In a written reply Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Shri Ravi Shanker Prasad said that NIC does not track the usage of private emails by Government employees.
Use of Private e-mail by Government Employees
The Government has notified the E-mail policy of Government of India vide Gazette Notification dated 18th February 2015. This policy inter alia mandates and provides for guidelines for use of Government email service, provided by NIC, for all official communications by Government officers.
The Government of India has also approved a project to strengthen the NIC email infrastructure. Once implemented, the new email system will provide for 50 lakhs email ids for Government users across the country. This new setup will be as per global standards.
