Night Duty Allowance to Railway Employees – Pay Ceiling 43600
On February 9th, 2022, the Railway Board issued an order regarding the imposition of a pay ceiling for entitlement of Night Duty Allowance for railway employees. The new ceiling has been set at Rs. 43,600 per month, which means that any employee earning more than this amount will not be eligible for the allowance. This decision has been made to control costs and ensure that the Night Duty Allowance is given only to those employees who meet the set criteria.

Sir,
Sub:- Imposition of pay ceiling @ Rs. 43600/- per month for entitlement of Night Duty Allowance to Railway employees.
The undersigned is directed to refer the issue regarding restoration of Night Duty Allowance to all categories of Railway employees. It is stated that this Ministry has already taken up this issue and forwarded matter to MoF/DoE for concurrence vide Board’s OM dated dt. 09.09.2021 and reminder dt. 23.11.2021.
DoE has forwarded copy of OM dt. 16.12.2021 addressed to DoPT. Also informed that a reference to DoPT on this issue has been made and reply from DoP&T is awaited.
In light of position provided by DoE, this Ministry has requested to DoP&T vide Board’s OM dt. 04.01.2022 for early resolution of the matter. However, reply From DOP&T & DOE is still waited.
