Change Passenger Name in IRCTC Ticket | Simple Guide

If you’ve made a confirmed reservation on Indian Railways through IRCTC, and you need to make a change to the name on the ticket, you’ll need to follow a specific process. This process involves submitting a request for a name change to IRCTC and providing appropriate documentation to support the change. Keep in mind that there are certain restrictions and limitations on name changes, and you’ll need to make sure you’re following all of the guidelines and rules set forth by IRCTC in order to make the change successfully.

If you happen to need to modify the name on your reservation, you must obtain approval from the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the relevant division. In cases where there is no Senior Divisional Commercial Manager in place, the Divisional Commercial Manager of the relevant division may allow for a change of name on a reservation if the party submits a written request along with all necessary documents as required by the regulations, at least 24 hours before the train is scheduled to depart.

(i) Government servant proceeding on duty on production of a letter from the appropriate authority.

(ii) Between family members due to unavoidable circumstances, viz. father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband and wife. No cancellation and reservation charges are recovered in this case. The station Manager will be competent to permit alteration of reservation under the condition mentioned above.

(iii) However, in case of group travelling together, party’s written request should be tendered in writing 48 hours before scheduled departure of train and change of name is not permitted in excess of 10% of total strength of the group/party.
