Correction in name of PF Member – Provision in Application Software.
Application Software for correction in the name, Father/spouse name and Date of Birth of a Provident Fund member in the WAR release 4.27. In this regard, the correction in the name, father/spouse name of the member is to be made only on receipt of joint request of the employee as well as the employer along with supporting documents.

The documents may be any of the following: –
- PAN Card
- Voters Identity Card
- Passport
- Driving License (v) ESIC Identity Card
- Aadhaar Card
- Bank Passbook copy/Post Office Passbook.
- Ration card
- Any school/education related certificate
- Certificate issued by Registrar of Birth & Death.
- Certificate based on the service records of the Central/State Government Organization.
- Copy of electricity/water/telephone bill in the name of the claimant.
- Letter from a recognized public authority or public servant verifying the identity and residence of the member to the satisfaction of the competent authority.
In all such cases, correction in the name may be approved by RPFC-II/OIC of SRO or RPFC-II (F&A) of RO, as the case may be.
The request for change in the date of birth of a member is to be carried out as per the guidelines issued by the Head Office vide circular No. Pension /3/8/OR/I/2005 dated 12.12.2006 (placed at ‘office orders & circulars’ at Sl. No. 24 of ‘old circulars’).
EPFO Issues Revised Instructions to Facilitate PF Members to Rectify their Birth Records
In a move to extend the availability and reach of online services in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, EPFO has issued revised instructions to its field offices to facilitate PF members to rectify their date of birth in EPFO records, thus ensuring that their UAN is KYC compliant.
The date of birth recorded in ‘Aadhaar’ will now be accepted as valid proof of date of birth for the purpose of rectification, provided that the difference in the two dates is less than 3 years. The PF subscribers can submit the correction requests online.
This will enable EPFO to validate the date of birth of members online with UIDAI instantaneously, thus authenticating and reducing the processing time of change requests.
EPFO has instructed field offices to expedite disposal of online requests, enabling PF members in financial distress, to apply online for availing non refundable advance from their PF accumulations to tide over the COVID-19 pandemic.
