Dustbins in railway compartments: Central Minister Suresh Prabhu informs
A meeting was held in New Delhi to discuss the internal design and layout of the railway compartments. The Central Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu participated in the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, he said, “Trains in India transport about 21.5 crore people every day. Passengers suffer due to the absence of dustbins in air-conditioned and sleeper compartments. Keeping their plight in mind, arrangements will be made to place about 60,000 dustbins in the train compartments. Announcements in this regard will be made during the next Railway budget.
“Dustbins are being attached to both the sides of the air-conditioned compartments that are being manufactured at the Chennai Integral Coach Factory. Keeping the comforts of the passengers in mind, facilities like easy-to-maintain toilets and ladders to climb to the upper berths are also being added to the new compartments.”
