Classification of Cities in Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh City Categorization
In Uttar Pradesh, the cities have been neatly divided into three distinct categories: X, Y, and Z. The classification process takes into account multiple factors, including the city’s population, availability of fundamental amenities, and quality of infrastructure. Cities boasting a population exceeding 50 lakh proudly fall under the prestigious X category. On the other hand, cities with a population ranging from 5 lakh to 50 lakh are assigned to the esteemed Y category. Lastly, cities with a population below 5 lakh humbly find their place in the Z category. This classification exercise plays a vital role in determining the House Rent Allowance (HRA) entitlements for government employees in these cities. Naturally, X cities receive the most generous HRA benefits, followed by Y cities, and finally Z cities.
