Revised HRA Rates for CG Employees from July 2021

Effective starting July 1, 2021, Central Government employees will receive updated House Rent Allowance (HRA) rates in A, B, and C-class cities. This adjustment is a result of the Dearness Allowance exceeding 25%, leading to an increase in HRA rates from the previous levels of 24%, 16%, and 8%. Notably, A-class cities will receive a raise from 24% to 27%, while B-class cities will see an increase from 16% to 18%, and C-class cities will receive a raise to 9% from 8%. New Transport Allowance from July 2024

Starting in July 2024, Transport Allowance will be provided to employees of the Central Government, including those of Railways, by their entitlement. The allocation of this allowance is determined based on the guidelines set forth by the 7th Pay Commission and is subject to adjustment according to the prevailing rate of Dearness Allowance. If the Dearness Allowance rate is 55%, then 55 percent of the Transport Allowance designated for the employee will be added to their entitled amount. The Transport Allowance will be adjusted in proportion to increases in the Dearness Allowance. To calculate the Transport Allowance, one can use a simple formula: Transport Allowance = Transport Allowance + (Transport Allowance x Current DA percentage)/100. TA = TA + (TA x Current DA percentage)/100
