When will counselling be held for graduate teachers?
The department of education has decided to appoint graduate teachers after filling the vacancies of post-graduate teachers. Counselling for transfers and promotions for teachers all over Tamil Nadu were held from August 12 to 31. Counselling for general transfers has not yet been held for graduate teachers.
Teachers who are working far away from their native villages suffer due to the distances. Meanwhile, the department of education has taken steps to recruit post-graduate teachers to fill up more than 2000 vacancies. The second list of post-graduate teachers’ promotions was released last week. The department plans to calculate the vacancies created in each district after the promotions, and then issue the transfers.
An official of the Department of Education said, “Teachers with more than 10 years of service will be promoted to the Selection Grade. A six percent salary hike is assured if the candidate is promoted to post-graduate teacher rank. Some have managed to avoid promotions without the Selection Grade. Hence, the second stage post graduate promotions list was released.
“Some of the vacancies in the Post-Graduate Teachers ranks will be filled up when Selection Grade teachers get their promotions. In order to increase the chances of graduate teachers getting transferred to their home towns, the counselling sessions could be delayed.”
