Nomination by Pensioners for Payment of Life-Time Arrears: Pensioners Portal Order 6.4.2022

On January 1st, 2021, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare issued an official memorandum regarding the payment of lumpsum compensation to employees who are covered under the National Pension System and retained in government service. Furthermore, the department held a question and answer session with a Pensioners Association on January 25th, 2022, regarding the usage of Digital Life Certificates through Face Authentication in accordance with the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021. Lastly, the department is revising the pensions of employees who were either compulsory retired or dismissed/removed but given a compassionate allowance.

The Payment of Arrears (Nomination) Rules, 1983 provide a framework for the payment of lifetime arrears to beneficiaries in case of the unfortunate demise of the pensioner. In a recent communication, the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPP&W) issued an Office Memorandum (OM) on April 6, 2022, notifying all concerned parties about the availability of Nomination under these rules. This provision allows the pensioner to nominate a person to receive the arrears in case of their death, ensuring that their rightful beneficiaries receive the payment without any complications.
