All India Consumer Price Index Number (AICPIN) for the month of September 2020 is converted from the new series of CPI (IW) with Base Year 2016=100.
What is new CPI (IW) Series?
- A new series of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers Base Year 2016=100 is now released by the Central Government in the month of September 2020.
What is the present consumer price index?
- At present, the CPI (IW) Base Year 2001=100 is in vogue. From the September 2020, the CPI-IW (2016=100) series replaces the CPI-IW (2001=100) series.
The new Consumer Price Index 2016 for the month of September 2016 is fixed as 118 points.
As per the Report on New Series of Consumer Price Index 2016, the fitment factor for finding the old CPI 2001 is 2.88.
Now we can find the AIPCIN for the month of September 2020 will be as follows:
AICPIN 2016 = 118
AICPIN 2001 = 118 x 2.88 = 340 (339.84)
However, the Labour Bureau will be published the official press release of the AICPIN for the month of September 2020 soon!
