What is a Double Transport Allowance for Government employees?
Physically disabled employees, including those who are visually impaired, orthopedically handicapped, deaf and dumb/hearing impaired, and those who suffer from spinal deformity, are eligible to receive Transport Allowance at twice the normal rate. The Transport Allowance shall be provided at twice the standard amount, regardless of whether the eligible government employees are residing within campus housing, or occupying Government or Private accommodation within one kilometer of the office. Sub: Compendium of Instructions regarding grant of Transport Allowance at double the normal rates to persons with disabilities employed in Railways-regarding.
Reference is invited to Board’s letter dated 22-02-2017 regarding grant of transport Allowance at double the normal rates for Railway employees on the basis of 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations. Now Ministry of Finance vide their OM dated 15-09-2022 has issued Compendium of instructions regarding grant of Transport Allowance at double the normal rates to persons with disabilities employed in Central Government. A copy thereof is sent herewith for information and compliance. These instructions shall apply mutatis-mutandis on the Railways also.
2. The railway Board’s instructions corresponding to the MoF’s instructions referred to. in their aforesaid OM dated 15-09-2022 are given as under:
