LTC Block Year 2018-21 Extended Until 31.3.2023

Extension of the LTC block year 2018-21 (extended) for a period of three months i.e. up to 31st March 2023

Leave Travel Concession scheme provided by the Central Government of India is a valuable benefit for its employees. It allows them to travel to their hometowns or any other place in India at subsidized rates, helping them save money. It provides them with an opportunity to take a break from their work and spend some quality time with their families. Finally, it helps them maintain a healthy work-life balance. The travel can be done by air, rail, or road, and the employee can avail of the concession up to two times in a block of four years.  The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued orders regarding the topic of LTC Block Year for Central Government employees on its portal. The content of the Dopt order is reproduced and given below for your information.

LTC Block 2 Years 2018-19, LTC Block 2 Years 2020-21 and LTC Block 4 Years 2018-21

Generally an employee can avail his LTC facility within the block year and also avail in the next year of the particular block year. Now, the Central Government has decided to extend the period to avail the LTC facility for 3 months up to 31st March 2023.

Office Memorandum

Subject: Extension of the LTC block year 2018-21 (extended) for a period of three months – reg.

The undersigned is directed to refer to the above-mentioned subject and to state that as per rule 10 of the CCS(LTC) Rules, 1988, a Government servant who is unable to avail of the LTC within a particular block of two years or four years may avail of the same within the first year of the next block of two years or four years. Accordingly, the block year 2018-21 was deemed extended up to 31st December 2022 by virtue of rule 10 of the CCS(LTC) Rules, 1988.

2. In relaxation of Rule 10 of the CCS(LTC) Rules, 1988, exercising the powers conferred under Rule 18 – ‘Power to relax’, of the CCS(LTC) Rules, 1988, it has now been decided with the approval of competent authority to extend the LTC Block year 2018-2021 (extended) for a period of three months i.e. upto 31st March 2023.
