The UGC-CARE List comprises journals from all fields that are indexed in internationally recognised databases like Scopus (Source list) or Web of Science (Arts and Humanities Citation Index Source Publication, Science Citation Index Expanded Source Publication, Social Science Citation Index Source Publication).

- Multidisciplinary based on All Science Journal Classification (ASJC) codes, which are created and maintained by Scopus (Elsevier Science). Journals indexed in Web of Science as well as Scopus or discontinued are not included in the count.
