The provision for Dearness Allowance (DA) under the 7th Pay Commission will cease from December 2025! Subsequently, the DA rate for the 8th Pay Commission will be determined starting from January 1, 2026!

DA Table Dearness Allowance Dearness Relief Table 2025: Dearness Allowance, commonly referred to as DA, constitutes an essential element of the remuneration framework for government employees in India. Central and State Governments acknowledge the necessity of providing financial support to employees and pensioners amidst the escalating costs of essential goods.

To mitigate the effects of inflation, the governments have adopted the practice of awarding Dearness Allowance. This allowance undergoes a review and adjustment biannually, specifically in January and July. By modifying the Dearness Allowance, the governments strive to ensure that employees and pensioners possess the financial resources required to manage the continually rising cost of living. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of its workforce. Our objective is to present a comprehensive D.A. Table encompassing the 7th CPC, 6th CPC, and 4th CPC, which can act as a valuable reference for all categories of Central Government employees.

What is the current DA rate for Central Govt employees?

As of July 1st, 2024, the present Dearness Allowance stands at 50% of the basic pay. The following table outlines the Dearness Allowance percentage for Central government employees receiving pay under the 7th CPC, 6th CPC, and 5th CPC. Three distinct percentage tables are provided for the periods:

Understanding DA Calculation

Dearness Allowance (DA) is calculated every six months based on the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW). The DA percentage is determined using the average CPI-IW of the preceding 12 months and is implemented bi-annually in January and July.

DA Calculation Formula: DA% = ((Average CPI-IW for 12 months – Base Index) × 100) ÷ Base Index
Where Base Index = 261.42 (CPI-IW with base year 2001=100)

DA Calculation Formula

7th Pay Commission Dearness Allowance Calculation Formula: The formula for calculating Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and pensioners is determined by each Pay Commission after consultation with relevant stakeholders. The 7th Central Pay Commission has put forward a designated formula for calculating Dearness Allowance (DA), which has received approval from the Central Government. The method involves gathering 12 months of All India Consumer Price Index (AICPIN) data, totaling these figures, calculating the average, multiplying the result by a designated fitment factor (261.42), dividing by the fitment factor again, and disregarding any decimal points to arrive at the final DA percentage.

Dearness Allowance = (Average of AICPI for the past 12 months – 261.42) x 100 / 261.42

This in connection with revision of pension as 7th cpc , for which required data submitted as for back as November 2017 but sofar revised or corrigendum ppo not issued, resulting in non payment of revised pension and arrears. Pensioners who are at life stage of supper seniority their cases need to be dealt on priority to get benefits in life time .

    Sir,

The Notional pay calculations in respect of Pre 2006 Pensioners seems to be OK. But I have a difference of opinion in respect of Post 2006 and pre 2016 pensioners who have retired from Jan 1015 till June 2015. They have invariably completed 6 months or above after their last increment viz july 2014.

Their Notional Pay should be increased by one increment and not thier last pay drawn. These benefits have been neutralised in respect of Pre 2006 retirees/official retired/died after july 1,2015.
