7th CPC Classification of Posts in Central Government Services

7th CPC Classification of Posts: The classification of posts in accordance with the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission involves segmenting existing posts and grades. In line with the 6th Pay Commission’s suggestion, Group D posts in Central government services were advised to be eliminated. The 7th Pay Commission similarly proposed a structured approach to classifying posts for employees and officers within the Central Government. Below is a comprehensive table outlining the classification of posts as per the 5th CPC, 6th CPC, and 7th CPC for enhanced clarity.

What is the Classification of Posts?

The Classification of Posts refers to the categorization of all employees employed by the central government according to their respective positions. This classification system, which is integral for determining salary, benefits, and entitlements, organizes government officials based on their professional roles and hierarchical placement within the administrative framework. Factors considered in the classification process include the level of authority, job responsibilities, and necessary qualifications. The 7th CPC Classification of Posts serves as a crucial mechanism for establishing suitable remuneration, perks, and concessions for government personnel based on their position and duties.

What are Group A, B, and C posts?

The categories of Group A, B, and C posts are defined under the Central Civil Services (CCS) Rules, which categorize government positions based on the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The classification, previously comprising four categories, was revised to three categories following the 6th CPC’s guidelines on pay band and grade levels. While the 6th Pay Commission initially proposed a four-category classification, the Central Government later eliminated ‘Group D’ positions. This classification organizes Central Government employees into Group A, B, or C based on their respective Pay Levels in the Pay Matrix Table.

It is felt that some of the top Officers in some departments are shabbily treated by lower officers of other departments Hence each officers level be exhibited starting from the lowest of the category example A-1 , lowest in A category All such Officers should wear a badge as A1 along with their name it is said that a A1 Officer especially in a State govt treys shabbily A6/7Officer in Rlys A GM of Rlys who is equivalent to Add Sec to GoI is not well respected by a A1 Officer of a State govt. This abuse be stopped with such exhibition of the status one holds. And so with B& C Officers. In all letters this be mentioned. Probably this will end the high handed ness of some lower officers in a dept overriding a Sr Officer of other depts and also dealing with State govt officers inter and intra.

      As per your last pay of ₹ 3400 x 1..86 = 6324 + GP 4200 = 10524 × 2.57 = 27047 fixed at matrix level 6 in minimum first stage of ₹ 35400/2 ₹ 17,700. 50% of NOTIONAL PENSION FROM 1/1/2016 is ₹ 17,700/- plus D.R at applicable rates.

There is variation in grade pay for Office Superintendent in various Ministry. In Defence Ministry, the O/S of MES gets Rs. 4600/- GP where as In the Navy O/S is given only 4200/- It should be equal as O/S post comes under PB 2 where 3 Scales are merged 5000 -5500 and 6500.

First of al the Govt. should listen the problems of ministerial cadre post prior to taking any decission . as these posts/cadre is a back bone of govt. machinery. Sir the grade pay system introduced in 2006 cpc. where the LDC awarded the GP Rs.1900/-. and the earstwhile Group D employees awarded the GP Rs.1800/- by the Govt. and the proposed GP was Rs.1300/-. Before awarding the GP of Rs.1900/- to the LDC the Govt. should have been go through the MOP (Mannual of Office Procedure) where the responsibility and nature of work mentioned. as regards to the group D employess the nature of work is same as on till date with the almost same GP of Rs.1800/-. It is high time for the 7th CPC as well as the Govt. should think over it and placed the LDCs to a respectative GP Rs.2800/- considering their nature of work/responibility and qualification, dedication/loyality towards discharging assigned works for the govt. It is requested to govt. that one clerk should have been the member of 7th cpc to monitor the geneuine demands of the ministerial cadre on behalf of the all ministerial staff.

The staff, who have been qualified in written test after 6th pay commission ( 01.01.2006 to 31.12.2015) for the higher posts, may be from Group ‘D’ to Group ‘C’ and Group “C” to Group “B” but not posted due to some reasons, should be promoted. To encourage the staff, give mental peace and lessen the inferiority complex among the staff, the qualified candidates should be promoted.
