The deadline to link an Aadhaar number to a TNEB service connection has been extended from February 1, 2023 to February 15, 2023 for all TANGEDCO customers in Tamil Nadu.

The government of Tamil Nadu has extended the deadline for linking EB-Aadhaar until February 15th. On Tuesday, Electricity Minister V Senthilbalaji reported that 25 lakh Tangedco consumers who have yet to link their Aadhaar with their service connections must do so before the given date. He stated that no further extensions will be granted.
EB Connection With Aadhaar Link Process 2023
Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has provided a facility to check whether consumers’ Aadhaar numbers have been linked to their electricity connection numbers. The last day to link the two is October 31st, which leaves only two days for consumers to complete the process.
On October 6th, TNEB announced that all consumers in Tamil Nadu must link their Aadhaar number to their electricity connection number. There are 2.67 crore electricity consumers in the state who are eligible for 100 units of free electricity and 500 units at a subsidised rate. All free and subsidised beneficiaries have been advised to link their Aadhaar numbers.
Consumers who have inherited ancestral properties are facing difficulties when attempting to link their Aadhaar, as more than one person owns the property, the minister stated, and added that the department is considering allowing multiple consumers to link their Aadhaar with such connections. In the case of establishments or trusts-owned properties, the individual in charge of them could link their Aadhaar, the minister mentioned.
How to Link Your EB Service with Aadhaar
TNEB consumers are required to enter the relevant details into the online application form. This includes their Service Connection Number, mobile number, and the text shown in the image. It is important to note that the Aadhaar linking process is currently only applicable to Domestic, Hand loom, Power loom, Agriculture and Hut services. Consumers must ensure they have their Aadhaar linked mobile number available, as an OTP will be sent to this number. Additionally, the Service Connection Number needs to be entered in the format as provided via SMS or printed on the receipt.
With regards to the electricity bills that are due from government departments, he commented that approximately 4,500 crore remains unpaid. “The issue was raised with the chief minister. The finance department has issued orders requesting the relevant departments to pay their dues in a staggered manner,” he highlighted.
The Electricity Board has instituted a system to enable customers to verify if their Aadhaar number is associated with their electricity connection number. To utilize this service, consumers should enter their electricity connection number and their mobile number on the website www.tnebltd.gov.in
