TN Dearness Allowance Table 2026: TN CM C. Joseph Vijay Announces 2% Dearness Allowance Hike for Government Staff: The Tamil Nadu government, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, on Thursday (May 14, 2026), announced a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and teachers. With this latest revision, the Dearness Allowance has been enhanced from the existing 58% to 60%, bringing financial relief to lakhs of employees and pensioners across the state.
According to an official government release, the revised Dearness Allowance will be implemented retrospectively from January 1, 2026. The decision is expected to place an additional financial burden of approximately ₹1,230 crore on the Tamil Nadu government treasury. Despite the additional expenditure, the State government emphasized its commitment to the welfare and financial well-being of government staff and retired personnel.
The DA hike is expected to benefit nearly 16 lakh individuals, including serving state government employees, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners. The revision comes as a significant relief amid rising living expenses and inflation, helping employees and pensioners manage household and essential expenditures more effectively.
The government further stated that the enhanced Dearness Allowance will be paid along with the salaries and pension disbursements for the current month. In addition, arrears for the four-month period from January 2026 to April 2026 will also be released at the earliest possible time, ensuring that beneficiaries receive the full financial benefits of the revised DA.
The newly sworn-in government headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay reiterated that government employees and teachers are the backbone of public administration and play a vital role in designing, implementing, and delivering welfare schemes and development programs for the people of Tamil Nadu. The administration affirmed that the contribution and dedication of government staff remain essential for effective governance and public service delivery throughout the state.
