The development of tourism destinations in Odisha is primarily undertaken by the State Government, with support from the Ministry of Tourism. The Ministry provides financial assistance to complement the efforts of the State Government in creating iconic tourist sites. To achieve sustainable and responsible tourism, the Ministry has revamped its Swadesh Darshan scheme into Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD 2.0).
Under SD 2.0, the State Government prepares a State Perspective Plan, analyzing the tourism potential of various destinations based on different parameters. The Ministry of Tourism then selects destinations for development according to the guidelines set forth in SD 2.0. In this regard, the Ministry has notified 57 destinations across the country for development under SD 2.0, including Koraput and Debrigarh in Odisha. These destinations hold special attractions, such as the enchanting ‘Khinda Village’, which adds to the allure of Odisha as a tourist destination.
