MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 29th March, 2018

S.O. 1419(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Act, 2018 (12 of 2018), the Central Government hereby appoints the 29th day of March, 2018 as the date on which the said Act shall come into force.

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 29th March, 2018

S.O. 1420 (E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 4 of the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 (39 of 1972), the Central Government hereby specifies that the amount of gratuity payable to an employee under the said Act shall not exceed twenty lakh rupees.

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 29th March, 2018

S.O. 1421 (E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (iv) of the Explanation to sub-section (2) of section 2A of the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 (39 of 1972), the Central Government hereby specifies for the purposes of the said clause that the total period of maternity leave in the case of a female employee shall not exceed twenty-six weeks.

    it should be 01.01.16 as applicable to central govt. employees, why govt is discriminating psu and bank employees from center. psu and bank employees are also govt. employees, they should also get enhanced gratuity at par with other employees. what is their fault if they retired or died during 16–17 and govt could not pass the bill in parliament on time. ???

      It does not comes under PAY COMMISSION, it involves all the employees in all services and funds allocated for them n earlier BUDGET. before the financial year. So it announces in the financial year begins, in this aspects it will calcuted leaving service/retiring all the employees. It cannot be given arrears due to this problem.

    For bank employees limit of gratuity should be increased to Rs.20 lakh .Effective date should be considered to wef 1_1_2016 as promised by Honourable Prime Minister of India .We have worked in bank for40 years .We expect that govt should give us reward at par with central govt employee..Due consideration is needed from Ministers .Thanks

      Gratuity amount increased limit upto 20 lakhs is for all the employees. Not only for central government employees including bank employees and all the private employees also.
