Bakrid Holiday 2023 Date in India

Bakrid Date 2023 in India | Eid al-Adha 2023 in India

Bakrid is also known as Eid al-Adha, Eid ul Adha, Id-ul-Azha, Id-ul-Zuha, Hari Raya Haji, or Bakr-id, and it is the Feast of Sacrifice, which is the most significant feast of the Muslim calendar. Also called Al Eid Al Kabeer, which signifies the ‘Grand Eid.’ This festival is more critical in religious terms as this festival of Eid lasts for up to four days; on the other hand, Eid Al Fitr is one day.

The Bakrit festival is a momentous occasion for the Muslim community. It holds significant importance and is celebrated with much zeal and enthusiasm. The festival is also known as ‘Eid-ul-Azha’ and ‘Eid-e-Qurban’. On this day, people wake up early in the morning, wash themselves and don new clothes, after which they offer prayers in the mosque. The highlight of the day is the sacrifice of a goat, which is distributed among friends, family, and the less fortunate.

This year, the festival of Bakrit will be celebrated on the 29th of June. While the date may cause some confusion, it is important to note that the festival is celebrated on the 10th day of the Islamic calendar Du al-Hijjah, which falls two months and nine days after the ‘Midi Eid’. As such, the date changes every year.

The festival is not just a celebration but also an expression of man’s devotion and service to God. It is also known as the Day of Sacrifice or Tyaga festival. This is because it commemorates Hazrat Ibrahim as the Messenger of God, who always strived for the welfare of mankind. At the age of 90, she gave birth to a son named Ismail, whom he wanted to sacrifice for mankind. Although he had sacrificed many animals before, he continued to dream of sacrificing his favorite until he finally received a message in his dream asking him to do so.
