7th and 8th Pay Matrix Basic Salary Table for Level-1: Here, we present the 7th and 8th pay matrix basic salary table for level 1 along with our expectations! The starting or minimum basic salary as per the 7th CPC is Rs.18000, while the maximum reaches Rs.56900, with the pay structure divided into 40 stages. Each stage sees an increase by a specific amount known as an increment, which also progresses in stages. This represents the final basic salary table from the 7th pay commission, with its tenure concluding in December 2025!

The calculation of the minimum and starting basic salary is essential for the creation of the pay matrix table! The 7th Pay Commission panel provided a comprehensive table detailing how to determine the minimum salary of Rs.18000 (Click here to view the table). Additionally, the fitment factor has been calculated as 2.57 (Click to view the calculation). Thus, we anticipate that the minimum basic salary for Central Government Employees will be set at Rs.34000 starting from 1.1.2026! Please share your suggestions in the comment section!

How to Calculate Fitment Factor in 8th CPC?

There is no universally accepted formula for calculating the Fitment Factor applicable to all pay commissions! The 6th CPC suggested a factor of 1.86, and a similar rationale was employed to derive the 7th CPC as well! Now, we have applied the same reasoning and arrived at a figure of 1.89 for the 8th CPC fitment factor! This is solely based on our expectations! (Click to view the calculation)
