TATA IPL Final rescheduled to Monday, May 29th at 7.30 PM
The IPL Final Match for 2023 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) was scheduled to take place on 29th May at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at 7:30 PM IST. However, due to rain, the toss was delayed, and the game was postponed to the reserve day. The match has been highly anticipated, given the teams’ performances throughout the tournament, with Chennai Super Kings having won four titles and Gujarat Titans being the defending champions.
Both teams displayed a balanced game, earning their spot in the finals. Chennai qualified for the finals by defeating GT convincingly in qualifier 1, while GT comes into the match after a comprehensive win against their opponents in qualifier 2. The teams have some top performers this season, with Shubman Gill holding the Orange cap, and Mohammad Shami, Rashid Khan, and Mohit Sharma being the highest wicket-takers.
MSD will be playing his 250th IPL game and striving to win his fifth title, while Hardik Pandya, his prodigy, aims to defend his title on home soil. If he succeeds, he will become the third captain in the league’s history to do so. Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been doing the bulk of scoring for CSK, while Tushar Deshpande has been among the wickets.
Despite rain causing a delay in the toss, there is still hope for a full game without over-reduction if it starts by 9:35 PM IST. If the match starts at 11:56 PM IST, there is still a possibility of a five-over game. However, all is not lost as there is always tomorrow, which is the reserve day for the match.
