GRANT OF HRA TO CENTRAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES ON TRANSFER FROM ONE STATION TO ANOTHER – INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING
1. As per the instructions contained in Min of finance (Departments of Expenditure) OM No. 11014/2/Ell(B)/82 dt 19 Mar 1983 read in conjunction with Min of Finance OM No. F2(37)-Ell(B)/64 dt 27 Nov 1965, ” A Government servant, who, on transfer, has been permitted to retain Government accommodation at the old station on payment of normal rent or penal rent or retains Government accommodation unauthorisedly on payment of market rent etc, will not be entitled to HRA at the new station for the period beyond 8 months from the date of his transfer”.
2. It may be ensured that the provisions and procedures for claiming HRA as per MoF letters under reference and after obtaining NAC as governed by SRO-31 for DGQA Pool of Accommodation.
3. This may be disseminated to all Establishments under your control for information and necessary action.
4. This has the approval of DGQA.

What will be the rate of HRA if I am permitted to retain the Accommodation at old Head Quarter for 08 months on transfer to a new place
If you’re occupying government accommodation the question of given HRA don’t apply for payment.
When I was posted at barasat kolkata i was getting 24% HRA .laters i had been posted to Ranchi and my family still st residing at kolkata but present ly at Ranchi i am drawing only 16% HRA. So request what should be entitled for me. 24% or 16 % what is correct for my new place of posting i.e for Ranchi.
HRA is eligible as per the place of duty of the Government servant, not for the family members living place.
I am a Railway Employee.when I was posted in Kolkata, I got 30% HRA.
Again I was transferred to KGP Division & I applied for HRA but my office asked me to apply for Rly. Quarter.I did not apply for quarter and I did neither get any HRA nor any quarter alloted in favour of me.Now I have been transferred in Kolkata and applied for HRA but till now,i am not getting any HRA. So, kindly confirm whether I ameligible to get HRA or not
