The Delhi Capitals had another underwhelming season after failing to make the playoffs in the 2022 IPL season. Rishabh Pant, the team’s newly designated captain, was criticized b after some questionable choices cost them dearly at the tail end of the season. The Delhi-based franchise, currently vying for its first IPL championship, entered the IPL 2023 auction with a bankroll of INR 19.45 crore and five spots to fill. They have been able to score some renowned players in the empty spots and are ready with a team prepared to win.

Delhi Capitals Team 2023 Auction Overview

 Delhi Capitals executed a brilliant piece of business in the auctions by acquiring England’s Phil Salt for a price of INR 2 crore. They made yet another fantastic acquisition when they paid INR 5.5 crore for Mukesh Kumar, an uncapped Indian bowler. The 29-year-old cricketer received his first call-up to the Indian team earlier this year for the ODI series against South Africa.

Following a bidding war with Royal Challengers Bangalore, they reinforced their middle order by signing the seasoned Indian batter Manish Pandey. Ishant Sharma, a local lad and seasoned Indian bowler, was also recruited to the team after being purchased for INR 50 lakh. The Delhi Capitals signed veteran Rilee Rossouw for 4.6 crores after he went unsigned in the previous round.

They have also appointed new coaches for the team. James Hopes has been appointed to carry out the responsibilities of Delhi Capitals’ bowling coach, whilst Pravin Amre has been appointed as their batting coach.
