DA Arrears Getting Twice in a Year!

DA Arrears Disbursed Biannually to Central Government Employees: It is a longstanding practice for Central Government employees, pensioners, and family pensioners to receive DA arrears twice a year. Announcements regarding the increase in DA are typically made in March and September annually. Following approval from the Union Cabinet Committee, the hike in DA is officially declared. Subsequently, the Finance Ministry issues formal orders for the disbursement of Dearness Allowance and dearness relief to Central government employees and pensioners, respectively.

DA Arrears Calculation Method

Typically, the calculation of dearness allowance arrears covers two months each year, specifically for the months of January, February March and July, August, September. To illustrate, if there is a 3% increase in dearness allowance effective from January, the arrears are computed as outlined below:
Initial DA Calculation: DA 53% + Arrears 3% = 56%
Arrears Computation: Jan, Feb, Mar 53% and Apr, May, Jun 56%

January 202553% + 3%
February 202553% + 3%
March 202553% + 3%
April 202556%
May 202556%

Hike in Transport Allowance Twice in a Year!

The Transport Allowance is periodically adjusted in line with fluctuations in the Dearness Allowance, affecting employees of the Central Government. With each update to the DA, the Transport Allowance is revised based on the suggestions of the 7th Pay Commission. All qualified Central Government employees have the right to receive the revised Transport Allowance, with the applicable rate being determined by the increase in DA.
