Comparison of Pay of CRPF with State Police

Comparison with jobs paying the same scale
The Constable in CRPF is currently in the pay scale of Rs. 825-15- 900-EB-20-1200 (Min. 855) as per the pay fixation recommended by 4th Pay Commission report. Unfortunately, while fixing this scale, it seems the skill and qualities needed for a Constable was not considered. This is evident from the fact that some other jobs which are put on the same scale neither such calibre not are they exposed to the kinds of risks the Constable is exposed to.

Comparison with State Police
CRPF personnel on a higher pedestal than other State Polices and logically it follows that CRPF personnel should be better than Constable of State Police. The following States are already paying better salaries to their Constables in comparison with CRPF Constable.

(a) Delhi Armed Police (950-1400)
(b) Orissa Armed Police (970-1500)
(c) Kerala Police (950-1500)
(d) Meghalaya Police (1250-1550)
(e) U.P. Police (950-1400)
(f) Karnataka Police (1040-1900

It will be highly demoralising and de-motivating if a force who is supposed to play a superior role is paid less. Another dimension to be considered is that the State Police has their operations limited to their Home State only where as CRPF is an All India Service.
