It celebrates acts of exceptional bravery, such as risking one’s own life to protect others, facing severe natural or manmade challenges with fearless determination, or demonstrating extraordinary mental fortitude and quick thinking in dangerous circumstances for themselves and their community. This award pays homage to those who have displayed unparalleled bravery and commendable character in the most daunting situations.
