NPS: Pension for Families of Missing Employees
The National Pension System (NPS) offers a family pension scheme to the families of employees who have gone missing. Under this scheme, the family members of the missing employee can receive a pension to help support them during their difficult time. This scheme is designed to provide financial security to the families of employees who are missing and presumed dead, ensuring that they do not suffer undue hardship.

Sub:- Extension of provisions of OM No.38/41/06-P&PW (A), dated 05.05.2009 for family pension to family to missing employees covered under NPS.
Attention is invited to Deptt. of Pensions & Pensioners Welfare OM No.1/24/2018-P&PW (E) dated 01.01.2019 (copy enclosed) wherein it is mentioned that the department is in the process of framing separate service rules for regulating the pensionary benefits. The question of extension of pensionary benefits to the families of missing NPS employees will be considered based on the NPS rules being finalized by DP&PW. This is for your kind information.

The extension of provisions of OM No.38/41/06-P&PW (A) refers to the inclusion of family pension benefits for the families of missing employees covered under NPS (National Pension System).
The purpose of Deptt. of Pensions & Pensioners Welfare OM No.1/24/2018-P&PW (E) dated 01.01.2019 is to inform that separate service rules are being framed for regulating the pensionary benefits and that the extension of pensionary benefits to the families of missing NPS employees will be considered based on the finalized NPS rules by DP&PW (Department of Pensions & Pensioners Welfare).
