Krishna Janmashtami Shubh Muhurat

1. It is considered when Ashtami is enduring during midnight, Vrat must be held on the next day.
2. If it is still the Ashtami at midnight on the second day, keep fast on the next day.
3. If Ashtami is for midnight of 2 days and Rohini Nakshatra is for one night only, the subsequent day of that night must be evaluated for the fast.
4. If Ashtami is at midnight for 2 days and both of the nights bear Rohini Nakshatra, Krishna Janmashtami fast is taken on the second day.

The Legend of Lord Krishna’s Birth

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna was born in Mathura, a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. His parents were Vasudeva and Devaki, who were imprisoned by Devaki’s brother, King Kansa, due to a prophecy that predicted that Devaki’s eighth child would kill him. However, Lord Vishnu appeared before Vasudeva and Devaki and instructed them to take their newborn son across the river Yamuna to Gokul, where he would be safe with his foster parents, Nanda and Yashoda.

The legend of Lord Krishna’s birth is an important part of Hindu mythology and is celebrated with great fervor during Janmashtami. Devotees decorate their homes and temples with flowers and lights, and perform puja (worship) of Lord Krishna’s idol. They also sing devotional songs and recite prayers in his honor.

Krishna Janmashtami Fasting and Parana

There are some rules on Krishna Janmashtami for keeping fast. No grains should be eaten during Janmashtami fasting until the fast is broken the next day after sunrise. The rules will be the same as Ekadashi fasting. Parana -breaking the fast should be accomplished at the right time. Krishna Janmashtami fasting, Parana is held the next day after sunrise when Ashtami Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra are over. If Ashtami Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra are not complete before Sunset then the fast can be busted during the daytime when either Ashtami Tithi or Rohini Nakshatra is done.

Significance of Krishna Janmashtami 2023
