The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is all set to release the notification for commencing the admission process for all KV schools in India for the academic year 2024-25. The first step of the registration process for class 1 admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya schools is commencing on 1st April 2024. The KVS online registration portal is ready for filling online applications for fresh applicants! Parents, get ready for obtaining valuable school admission in your nearest KV and prepare the required documents in advance. The minimum age requirement is 6 as of 1st April 2024, with the maximum age set at 8. You can also apply under the RTE quota for complete free education from class 1 to 12, offering a CBSE syllabus education.

Starting from today, specifically on March 27, 2023 at 10:00 am, until April 17, 2023 at 7:00 pm, the enrollment procedure for admission to Class I in Kendriya Vidyalayas for the Academic Year 2023-2024 will be conducted through online channels. Interested parties can access the relevant admission information through the website kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in or the Android mobile application (MobileApp).

Age Limit for KV Admission 2023-2024
To apply for admission to KV School for the 2023-2024 term, you must provide the child’s date of birth exactly as it appears on their birth certificate. The date of birth cannot be altered once entered during registration. KVS has established guidelines for admission to Std 1, specifying that the minimum age for applicants is 6 years and the maximum age is 8 years (with a 2-year extension for differently abled students) as of April 1, 2023. This implies for non-differently abled candidates, the date of birth range should fall between April 1, 2015, and April 1, 2017, while for differently-abled applicants, this range is April 1, 2013 – April 1, 2017.
If your child’s date of birth is outside of these ranges, their application will be denied. During registration, please have a scanned copy of the child’s birth certificate handy as evidence of their date of birth. For admission to Std 1, the certificate must be official and may be issued by any Notified Area Council/Municipality/Municipal Corporation/Village Panchayat/military hospital/service records of Defence personnel. If granted provisional admission, the original date of birth certificate must be submitted at the time of admission and will be returned following review.
KVS Admission Portal First-Time Registration 2023-24
If you’re looking to enroll your child in Kendriya Vidyalaya School for the 2023 session, follow these simple steps to sign up as a first-time user:
- First Name: Enter your child’s first name correctly, using only English letters, spaces, or periods.
- Middle Name: Fill in your child’s middle name.
- Last Name: Enter your child’s last name exactly as it appears on their birth certificate or other valid document.
NOTE: Accuracy is crucial, so make sure you get this right. - Differently-abled Child: Indicate whether your child is differently-abled by selecting “Yes” or “No.” If your child has a disability, be prepared to present proof during admission.
- Date of Birth: Provide your child’s date of birth.
- KVS Employee Child: If you’re an employee of KVS, specify your status in the drop-down menu. If not, select “Not Applicable.”
- Email Address: Enter a valid email address that you check regularly. All communication regarding admission will be sent to this email address.
- Mobile Number: Provide a valid Indian mobile number that you have access to. This number is used for OTP verification, application submission, and communication with the school. Make sure it’s your own number and not someone else’s.
NOTE: All the information you provide will be pre-filled in the admission application form and cannot be edited later. - Captcha Code: Enter the captcha code displayed on the screen to proceed. If you can’t read it, generate a new one by clicking the button next to it.
- OTP Verification: After clicking on “Register,” an OTP will be sent to your mobile number. Enter it correctly on the screen and click on “Verify.”
NOTE: If you don’t receive the OTP within 5 minutes of clicking on “Register,” click on “Resend OTP.” - Once you’ve verified the OTP, an acknowledgement page with a unique Login Code will appear. Save this code carefully, as it’s required to log in to the admission application portal. You’ll also receive the code through email or SMS.
NOTE: Keep a printout of the acknowledgement page containing the Login Code safe. Without it, you won’t be able to submit your admission application.
These steps complete the registration process but not the admission application form submission process. To fill in and submit the admission application form, log in to the online admission portal using the Login Code. Click on the link at the bottom of the acknowledgement page to go to the login page. Alternatively, if you’ve already registered, go directly to the Login tab after reading the instructions.
Documents Required for KV Admission 2023-2024
To ensure successful registration for KVS Admission class 1 in 2023-24, it is essential to have all necessary documents ready. As a parent or guardian, you should have digital copies of the required documents before beginning the registration process. Prepare the following documents to ensure a smooth and quick application process:
- Valid Indian SIM card mobile number
- Valid email address
- Digital or scanned photograph of the child seeking admission (JPEG file, maximum size 256KB)
- Scanned copy of the child’s birth certificate (JPEG or PDF file, maximum size 256KB)
- Government certificate details if applying under the economically weak section
- Parent/grandparent’s transfer details if their service credentials are being used in the application.

Distance Criteria for KV Admission 2023-24
To determine eligibility for admission in the Right to Education (RTE) category, Kendriya Vidyalayas have been categorized based on the density of the population in their respective locations.
If the Vidyalaya is located in a major city or urban area, the limit of the neighborhood is a 5 km radius from the Vidyalaya. For places and areas other than those mentioned above, the limit is an 8 km radius from the Vidyalaya. So, in order for a child to be eligible for admission in the RTE category, they must apply under one of the mentioned categories and reside within 5 km of the Vidyalaya in major cities and urban areas, and within 8 km of the Vidyalaya in other areas.
The field for radial distance will vary depending on whether the chosen Vidyalaya is located in an urban or rural region. It is mandatory to fill this field separately for each Vidyalaya applied for. The applicant must also provide a distance declaration and proof of residence if offered provisional admission in the RTE category. However, non-submission of valid proof of residence will not result in denial of admission.
Can I apply for more than one KV school?
To seek admission for their child in Kendriya Vidyalaya Class 1 for the year 2023-24, it is permissible for parents or guardians to apply to one or more KV schools in their vicinity. However, it is important to note that submitting multiple applications to the same school is prohibited, as doing so will result in cancellation of the application. Such applicants will then be ineligible to reapply to that particular KV school for the current academic year.
When applying for admission to KV in 2023-24, you have the option to select up to three (3) different Vidyalayas in India on a single form, with no preference between them. This allows for greater flexibility in choosing the best Vidyalaya for your needs.
How do I check my KV School application status?
Once you have successfully registered your child for Class 1 admission at your nearest KV school through the KVS online portal, you can easily check the status of your application on the portal itself. The KVS admission portal offers a convenient option link located at the top right corner of the home page. Simply click on the link and enter your login ID and applicant particulars. Once you submit the information, the portal will display the current status of your application form. It’s recommended to take a screenshot of the status for future reference.
