He was known for his humility, selflessness, and commitment to serving humanity.

Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings emphasized the importance of living a righteous life and standing up against injustice. He preached the message of equality, urging his followers to treat all individuals with respect and dignity, regardless of their caste, creed, or social status. The Guru believed in the power of meditation and self-discipline as means to attain spiritual enlightenment.

The Events Leading to Martyrdom

During the 17th century, India was under the rule of the Mughal Empire, led by Emperor Aurangzeb. The Mughal rulers were known for their religious intolerance and attempts to forcibly convert non-Muslims to Islam. In this context, Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom holds immense significance.

In a courageous act of defiance, Guru Tegh Bahadur decided to confront Emperor Aurangzeb and advocate for the Pandits’ right to practice their own faith.

The Guru, along with a few of his disciples, traveled to Delhi to meet the Emperor. Despite facing numerous challenges and threats, Guru Tegh Bahadur remained steadfast in his mission. He was eventually arrested and subjected to severe torture in an attempt to force him to convert to Islam. However, the Guru refused to renounce his faith and remained resolute until the end.
