From a young age, he displayed a deep spiritual inclination and a quest for understanding the nature of God. Throughout his life, Guru Nanak traveled extensively, spreading his message of love, equality, and devotion to God.

One of the central teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the concept of “Ik Onkar,” which means “One God.” He emphasized the belief in the oneness of God and rejected the idea of multiple deities. Guru Nanak also advocated for equality among all human beings, regardless of their caste, creed, or gender. He challenged societal norms and fought against social injustices prevalent during his time.

Significance of Guru Nanak Birthday

Nagar Kirtan serves as a way to spread Guru Nanak’s message of peace, love, and unity to the wider community.

The controversial Bhai Bala Janamsakhi states that Guru Nanak was born on the Full Moon of the Indian Lunar Month Kartik. This is why Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak’s Gurpurab in November and it has become a part of Sikh traditions.
