Pay matrix level eight, also known as Level 8, is a significant milestone for Group B officers in the Central Government services. It was proposed by the 7th pay panel as the recommended pay level for Grade pay 4800 in the 6th CPC. This level is of utmost importance and should be given due consideration.

The Level 8 Pay Scale in Central Government has undergone a transformation following the implementation of the 7th pay commission. The Grade Pay 4800 has been elevated to pay matrix level 8, offering an initial basic salary of Rs. 47,600. The very last stage, which is the 40th, now provides a salary of Rs.1,51,100.
In the past, before the implementation of the 7th CPC, the basic salary structure ranged between 9300 and 34800. However, currently, after the introduction of the 7th CPC, the minimum and maximum basic salary for pay matrix level 8 is Rs. 47600 and Rs. 151100 respectively.
