AICPIN for February 2024 Press Release
AICPIN February 2024 – Not Yet Published | Labour Bureau
Today, on the 9th of April 2024, it is an unprecedented occurrence as the All India Consumer Price Index Number (AICPIN) has not been published by the Labour Bureau. Despite the passing of nine days in the month, this crucial data point, which forms the basis for calculating the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Industrial Workers with the base year 2016=100, remains unavailable. The CPI for Industrial Workers holds immense significance as it directly influences the calculation of Dearness Allowance for employees of the Central Government, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and banks. Timely publication of this index is vital to ensure that employees receive their rightful allowances in a systematic and routine manner.
Reason for Dealing with Feb 2024 AICPIN
We don’t have a definitive answer as to why the AICPIN data for the month of February 2024 has not been released yet. Some officials have mentioned the Lok Sabha election ‘Code of Conduct’ as a possible reason for the delay in publishing the data. However, this explanation may not hold water. The Labour Bureau is the only authority with the power to investigate and provide clarity on why the release of the AICPIN data has been postponed.
AICPIN for February 2024 Press Release PDF Download: As per the advance calendar released by the labour bureau, the AICPIN points for February 2024 were scheduled to be released on 28th March 2024. With 7 days already elapsed since that date, today being the 4th of April, it is quite surprising that the Labour Bureau has not yet released the Price Index numbers for the said month.
This delay in the release of data has resulted in the inability to calculate the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) increase, which was supposed to take effect from 1st April 2024. Rest assured, we at 7thpaycommissionnews.in will promptly update you on the expected IDA increase as soon as the data is made available by the Labour Bureau.
