AICPIN for the month of August 2023 Press Release PDF
The recent release by the Labour Bureau, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, has revealed the latest negative figures for the All India Consumer Price Index Numbers (AICPIN-IW) for August 2023. These numbers, which serve as a measure of inflation for industrial workers, have decreased by 0.5 points compared to the figures from July 2023. The AICPIN-IW for August 2023 stands at 139.2 points, with a base year of 2016=100 and 1960=100. Based on these figures, it is expected that the Dearness Allowance (DA) will be adjusted in January 2024.

In August 2023, the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) in India witnessed a decline of 0.5 points, resulting in a value of 139.2. This decrease represents a 0.36% decline in comparison to the previous month’s figure, whereas there was a 0.23% increase observed between the corresponding months of the previous year.

The calculation of the anticipated Dearness Allowance (DA) for January 2024 will begin with the next installment! It will be based on the data gathered from the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPIN) for the period of July to December 2023. This process will be completed by December 2023.
