Displayed here is a holiday schedule for the 2023-24 academic year consisting of summer, winter, and autumn breaks. The Kendriya Vidyalayas’ summer and winter vacations for the 2023-24 academic session are predetermined based on geographic location.
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has published the following timetable for summer and autumn/winter holidays (Vacation & Breaks) in Kendriya Vidyalayas for the 2023-24 academic year:
The designated hot spots are Agra, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Gurugram, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Silchar, Tinsukia and Varanasi.
The Summer Vacation for these areas will last for 40 days, commencing on 8th May 2023 (Monday) and concluding on 16th June 2023 (Friday). There will be an Autumn Break from 20th October 2023 (Friday) to 29th October 2023 (Sunday) for 10 days and a Winter Break from 25th December 2023 (Monday) to 13th January 2024 (Saturday) for 20 days.
Regional Offices: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Mumbai, Raipur, Bhubaneshwar, Bhopal and Ernakulam.
For the Regional Offices of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Mumbai, Raipur, Bhubaneshwar, Bhopal and Ernakulam, the Summer Vacation will last for 50 days starting on 2nd May 2023 (Tuesday) and ending on 20th June 2023 (Tuesday). Additionally, there will be an Autumn Break of 10 days between 20th October 2023 (Friday) and 29th October 2023 (Sunday) as well as a Winter Break of 10 days between 25th December 2023 (Monday) and 3rd January 2024 (Wednesday).
Winter locations : (except Kendriya Vidyalayas of winter locations falling under Dehradun Division)
For winter locations, excluding those in the Dehradun Division, the summer vacation will last 10 days from 15th May 2023 (Monday) to 24th May 2023 (Wednesday). The autumn break will be for 10 days from 20th October 2023 (Friday) to 29th October 2023 (Sunday), and the winter break will last 50 days from 4th December 2023 (Monday) to 22nd January 2024 (Monday).
Kendriya Vidyalayas of winter places under Dehradun Division:
For Kendriya Vidyalayas in the Dehradun Division, the summer vacation will be for 20 days from 15th May 2023 (Monday) to 3rd June 2023 (Saturday), the autumn break for 10 days from 20th October 2023 (Friday) to 29th October 2023 (Sunday), and the winter break for 40 days from 14th December 2023 (Thursday) to 22nd January 2024 (Monday).
Colder places: Kendriya Vidyalaya located in Leh, Kargil and Nubra (Ladakh) UTs.
For the academic session 2023-24, Kendriya Vidyalayas will have region-wise summer and winter vacations, as well as autumn breaks. In colder places such as Leh, Kargil and Nubra (Ladakh) UTs, the winter vacation will last 70 days from 04/12/2023 to 11/02/2024.
Central School, Tawang
Central School, Tawang will have a summer vacation of 20 days from 15/05/2023 to 03/06/2023 and a winter break of 50 days from 04/12/2023 to 22/01/2024.
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dalhanji
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dalhanji will have a summer vacation of 10 days from 15/05/2023 to 24/05/2023, an autumn break of 10 days from 20/10/2023 to 29/10/2023 and a winter break of 50 days from 18/12/2023 to 05/02/2024.
Central School, Kathmandu
For the 2023-24 academic year, Kendriya Vidyalayas will have region-specific summer, winter, and autumn vacations. At Central School in Kathmandu, the summer vacation will last 40 days, beginning on Monday, May 8th, 2023 and ending on Friday, June 16th, 2023. The autumn break will consist of 10 days, starting on Friday, October 20th, 2023 and ending on Sunday, October 29th, 2023. The winter break will be for 20 days, commencing on Monday, December 25th, 2023 and concluding on Saturday, January 13th, 2024.
Note for KVS Summer Vacation 2023-24
- Both dates (days) are inclusive.
- If the day of opening/day before closing Vidyalaya is a holiday or declared a holiday by govt, the same will be included in Vacation & Break
- Teachers / Employees whose services are needed for CBSE Board Examinations Class-X & XII -2022 & Evaluation work as per the direction of CBSE will be retained by the Principal of the KV.
Proportionate leave (EL/CCL) as per rule will be given for the period of stay at the station for CBSE Examination & Evaluation. - Principals are instructed to adhere to the above instructions and take necessary action for granting leave entitled to the Teachers/Employees who will perform their duties for CBSE Board Examination & Evaluation during the summer vacation.

The period of the summer vacation may vary depending on the region. For the hot regions of Agra, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Gurugram, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Silchar, Tinsukia and Varanasi, the summer vacation will last for 40 days from 8th May 2023 to 16th June 2023.
Depending on the region, the duration of the summer vacation varies. In the hotter areas of Agra, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Gurugram, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Silchar, Tinsukia and Varanasi, the summer vacation will last 10 days, from October 20th, 2023 to October 29th, 2023.
The duration of the summer vacation will differ depending on the region. For areas with hot climates, such as Agra, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Gurugram, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Silchar, Tinsukia and Varanasi, the summer vacation will span 20 days, beginning on December 25th 2023 and ending on January 13th 2024.
