Delhi High Court Dismisses Plea against Centre’s decision on Freezing of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief
The Delhi High Court dismissed a plea against the Centre’s decision on freezing of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of Central Government employees and pensioners in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finance Ministry order on Freezing of Dearness Allowance
The Department of Expenditure under the Finance Ministry has published an important order regarding the decision taken on the subject of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief to Central Government employees and pensioners.
In view of the crisis arising out of COVID 19, the Central Govt has decided that the no additional Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief to Central Govt employees and pensioners respectively from 1.1.2020. [Click to view the order]
Regulation of dearness allowance
Every member of the Service and every officer, whose initial pay is fixed in accordance with sub-rule (5) or sub-rule (6A) of rule 4 of the Indian Administrative Service (Pay) Rules, 1954 or sub-rule (5) of rule 4 of the Indian Police Service (Pay) Rules, 1954 or sub-rule (6) of rule 4 of the Indian Forest Service (Pay) Rules, 1968, shall be entitled to draw dearness allowance at such rates, and subject to such conditions, as may be specified by the Central Government, from time to time, in respect of the officers of Central Civil Services, Class I.”
