Has the Bonus Calculation Ceiling been increased?

“Each year, the Central Government employees have been receiving only pittance in the name of bonus.”

Annual bonus is normally granted to all the Central Government employees and Railway employees ahead of Saraswati Puja. As of now, the wage eligibility limit and calculate ceiling for issuing bonus for this year has not yet been announced officially. Yet, on September 1, 2015, the Ministry of Labour and Employment had, via its authorized mouthpiece, the Press Information Bureau, made an announcement, which said that that the highest limit for the calculation ceiling has been raised from Rs.3500 to Rs.7000. The highest amount of salary to qualify for the bonus has also been increased from Rs.10,000 to Rs.21,000. Despite this report, the government has not yet issued any confirmation.

The below statement published by PIB on 1.9.2015

“For the purpose of bonus, the wage eligibility limit and calculation ceiling would be appropriately revised. It is proposed to revise the wage eligibility limit from Rs.10,000 to Rs.21,000 and calculation ceiling from Rs.3500 to Rs.7,000 or the minimum wage notified by the appropriate Government for that category of employment, whichever is higher, with the proposed revision of the minimum wages, the average calculation ceiling would be about Rs.10,000.”

It has to be mentioned here that during the discussion with Central Trade Unions on August 26 and 27, the Central Government had assured to raise the bonus limits to Rs.7000 and Rs.21000 and Rs.3500 to Rs.7000.

Its sounds good that the limit of bonus are increased from 10000 to 21000 therefore every employee may be reward more, but any one thought if it happen then the cash in hand will be less for employee which he is getting from years and more, they have to minimum his expenses as burden on him and more over due to this what will be the advantages for employee, yes govt/employer has advantage to take benefits of interest charge which they cut from employee salary.
