Overwhelmed with joy, Yami welcomed her brother with aarti (a traditional ritual of waving a lamp) and applied a tilak (a mark on the forehead) on his forehead. In return, Lord Yama bestowed blessings upon his sister and promised to protect her from all harm. This story signifies the strong bond between siblings and the importance of their relationship.

In return, brothers give gifts to their sisters as a token of their love and appreciation. These gifts can range from sweets, clothes, jewelry, or any other item that holds significance for the sister.

Another important aspect of Bhai Dooj is the exchange of promises between siblings. Brothers promise to protect and support their sisters throughout their lives, while sisters vow to always stand by their brothers’ side. This exchange of promises strengthens the bond between siblings and reinforces their commitment to each other.
