How to Correct Name in Voter ID Card?

Should someone find that their voter ID card has incorrect information regarding their name, they can easily initiate a correction online by following these steps:

Start by visiting the official website of the National Voters Services Portal. Look for the section titled “Correction of entries in electoral roll” and click on it. This will direct you to a new page where you should select “Form 8” to access the correction request form for your voter ID. Fill in all required fields, including your State, Assembly/Parliamentary Constituency, full name, electoral roll part and serial number, gender, age, and details about your family like your father’s, mother’s, or husband’s name.

Next, provide your complete address. If you possess a voter ID card, include its details such as card number, date of issue, issuing state, and constituency. After entering this information, upload necessary supporting documents, including a recent photograph, a valid ID, and proof of address.

To specify the corrections needed, click on the “My Name” tab if you want to change your name on the voter ID. Indicate your city and the date when you are submitting the name correction request. Enter your contact information (phone number and email), check all provided data for correctness, and then click on the “Submit” button.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will evaluate the information you submitted and will make the required changes if everything is in order.
