Schools in India 2024: Facts and Figures

14.89 Lakh Schools in India: The UDISE+ report for the year 2020-21 offers valuable perspectives on the vast Indian School Education System, ranking among the largest globally. Boasting approximately 14.89 lakh educational institutions, more than 95 lakh educators, and nearly 26.52 Crore students spanning from early childhood to higher secondary education, this system accommodates a broad spectrum of socio-economic groups. Its central objective revolves around maintaining consistent quality and coherence nationwide, alongside promoting and preserving the diverse cultural and heritage richness inherent within the country, thereby fostering its development and advancement.

UDISE Plus Student Module Overview

The UDISE code serves as a distinctive marker for schools that have joined the UDISE+ platform. Each school is assigned an 11-digit code that corresponds to recognized educational institutions spanning from pre-primary to XII grade levels. The code undergoes a sequential process involving generation, alteration, status update, and eventual closure. It is crucial to note that once a school receives its UDISE code, it remains fixed for that particular institution, with alterations only permissible in the event of a district or state relocation.

UDISE Plus Student Module: Getting UDISE Code

In order to obtain a UDISE code for a school, the school’s representative must contact the district MIS officer and submit necessary documents. The district MIS officer will then request the code via the UDISE+ platform, which will be reviewed and authorized by the state MIS officer. Upon final approval at the state level, the request is forwarded to the Ministry of Education for the generation of the UDISE code, a process that typically requires approximately one week to finalize.

UDISE Data Capture Format

The UDISE Plus Student Module 2024-25 provides a comprehensive platform for schools spanning Grade Pre-Primary to Class-12 to input and manage their data effectively. Accessible via the official website at UdisePlus.gov.in, this module encompasses various segments including the Data Capture Format, School Profile and Other Details, School Safety and Other Indicators, Receipts and Expenditure, Vocational Education Details, as well as insights on Physical Facilities, Equipment, Computer, and Digital initiatives. Moreover, it incorporates sections specifically designed to record Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Details, Student Details, and Enrolment in alternative School types. This centralized system, engineered by the Department of School Education and Literacy, is geared towards enhancing data collection efficiency and bolstering educational administration practices for schools nationwide.

UDISE + Login for School Level

Accessing all modules, including School Directory and User Management, Profile & Facilities, Teacher Module, Students Module, and Report Module requires a UDISE + Login. The login process entails using the UDISE Code as the school login username, while the password is supplied by the Block MIS Coordinator. District MIS Coordinators provide the block login credentials. Various administrative levels such as school, block, district, and state have separate login pages for States and UTs.

For School Level access, the User Name and Password are acquired from the Block MIS Coordinator. To reach the UDISE+ website (URL: www.udiseplus.gov.in), schools must select ‘Login’ on the Home Page and input the provided login information. Changing the password after the initial successful login is recommended for enhanced security. Schools are encouraged to consult the User Manual on the website before data entry. It is advisable to download the DCF in PDF format, prepare the data offline, and then submit it online. Authorized personnel should supervise and validate the accuracy of the submitted information. Once verified, the finalized DCF should be submitted online.
