Where should I pay the Road Tax ?
The road tax is to be paid in the office of Registering Authority. In the case of new vehicles, the road tax is collected at the time of registration.
Where should I go for registration of a vehicle ?
A vehicle is required to be registered by a Registering Authority in whose jurisdiction the owner of the motor vehicle has the residence or place of business where the vehicles is normally kept. In Haryana, the SDO(C) concerned has been prescribed as the Registering Authority in respect of all motor vehicles other than the transport vehicles, and motor vehicles having a seating capacity upto 6+1. The Secretary, Regional Transport Authority has been prescribed as the Registering Authority in respect of all the remaining vehicles. For registration marks 1 to 100 of each series, the registration is done in the office of Transport Commissioner, Haryana
What is the time allowed for submitting an application for registration of a vehicle ?
An application for registration of a motor vehicle is required to be made to the registering authority within a period of seven days from the date of taking delivery of such vehicle, excluding the period of journey.
Which documents can be submitted as proof of residence for registration of a vehicle ?
Any one of the following documents can be produced in original or an attested copy thereof as proof of address:-
- Electoral Roll
- Life Insurance Policy
- Passport
- Pay slip issued by any office of the Central or State Government or a local body
- Telephone Bill
- Electricity Charges Bill
- Water Charges Bill
- Identity Card issued to the Ex-serviceman by the Zila Sanik Board
- Certificate of Registration in case of Firm/Company
- Certificate of Registration by the Sales Tax Department
- Income Tax Return
- Service Tax Return
- Certificate issued by the Hostel Wardens in case of students residing in Hostels
- Marriage certificate issued by the Registrar of Marriages
- Residence certificate issued by the District Administration
- Rent deed/Rent Agreement
- Report from the concerned SHO
- Employer certificate in case of Private Limited Companies with Identity Card
- House Allotment letter issued by the Govt. Department
- Ownership letter issued by the Estate Office
- Where the applicant is not able to produce any of the above mentioned documents for sufficient reason, the Registering Authority may accept any affidavit sworn by the applicant before an Executive Magistrate, or a First Class Judicial Magistrate or a Notary Public as evidence of address.
