PM Solar Rooftop Plant Calculator

The PM Solar Rooftop Plant Calculator serves as an excellent resource, shedding light on the practicality of adopting a solar energy system. This tool is particularly popular among those looking to gain a clearer understanding of their energy consumption and to explore ways to cut down on their monthly electricity bills. Take, for example, a household in Tamil Nadu that currently faces an electricity bill of Rs. 2500 and is curious about the potential benefits of the scheme.

By entering the necessary information into the calculator, users can swiftly discover that a Rooftop Solar Plant with a capacity of 3kW is advisable, requiring an estimated total investment of Rs. 145,000. Importantly, the PM Surya Ghar scheme provides a subsidy of Rs. 78,000, which brings the consumer’s out-of-pocket expense down to Rs. 67,000. Over a span of 25 years, homeowners can enjoy free electricity, with the payback period estimated at around 5.2 years. The installation will require a relatively small area of 300 square feet, yielding daily electricity production of approximately 12.96 kWh.

PMSuryaGhar Muft Bijli Yojana Subsidy Details

The PmSuryaGhar Solar Rooftop Portal is designed to support residential households looking to set up rooftop solar systems by offering subsidies. Homeowners can receive a subsidy of Rs. 30,000 per kW for installations up to 2 kW, and for additional capacity up to 3 kW, the subsidy is Rs. 18,000 per kW. For solar systems exceeding 3 kW, the total subsidy is limited to Rs. 78,000. The appropriate size of the solar rooftop system for each household is based on their typical monthly electricity usage.

For homes that consume between 0-150 units monthly, a capacity of 1-2 kW is suggested. If a household’s consumption falls between 150-300 units per month, a 2-3 kW system is recommended. Households that use over 300 units should consider a system larger than 3 kW. Additionally, Group Housing Societies and Resident Welfare Associations (GHS/RWA) can avail a subsidy of Rs. 18,000 per kW for shared facilities, such as electric vehicle charging stations, with a maximum capacity of 500 kW. This allowance also covers individual rooftop installations within the GHS/RWA, capped at 3 kW per home.
