Centre cautions aspirants who seek overseas jobs through agents
Union Minister V.K. Singh has advised Indian job seekers to look for overseas employment only through government-authorized agents.
The hand of a maidservant from Tamil Nadu who was employed in Saudi Arabia was chopped away. The incident has created anger throughout India. Following this, Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh, the Minister of State for External Affairs, has advised Indian job-seekers to look for overseas employment only through government-authorized agents.
While talking to reporters in New Delhi, he said, “I’d like to convey a very important message through the media to all the citizens of this country. If you are looking for jobs abroad, please go through reliable, government-recognized agents. If you go through unauthorized agents, there will be delay in getting assistance if you land in trouble abroad.
“Fraudulent agents are not aware of the rules and regulations of foreign countries. Therefore, they will only give you partial information about the country that you are trying to go to. That is where the trouble begins.
“Before you go to a foreign land with an unfamiliar language, you will have to find out about its rules and regulations. Also, you must look for jobs abroad only through authorized agents. Otherwise, you might end up remaining in your own country. It is very important for people to become aware of this.”
